A new paper format for the SNAP 2006, but not much else different. However, Peak Seekers students would not have found even the new format surprising as our SNAP prepTest 2 and SNAP prepTest 3 was on the same lines. What's more, about 12 Q’s from Peak Seekers SNAP PrepTests and the Verbal Reasoning book appeared in SNAP 2006 almost verbatim. Overall the paper was easier than the last year’s edition, and hence the cut-off’s are expected to soar.

Section-Wise Analysis of SNAP 2006
General Awareness
  • This section was easier than anticipated. One could have attempted 25 Q’s easily with minimum level of preparation.
  • A large number of questions pertained to current GK, and not static GK. The questions were a mix of sports, business and general awareness. The Q’s on the company that has not yet acquired any other company and that on UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador were on the lines of Q.92 and Q.119 respectively from our SNAP PrepTest 1.

Quantitative Ability + Data Interpretation
  • This section had a mix of questions from Pure Math (24 Q’s), Data Interpretation (22 Q’s) and Data Sufficiency (4 Q’s).
  • The Pure Math questions were largely from Arithmetic (16 Q’s). The remaining questions were from Permutations & Combinations (4 Q’s) and Geometry (4 Q’s). All questions except those on Permutations & Combinations were fairly easy and an attempt of 15 Q’s was easily possible. There were 3 Q’s on the lines of Q’s 7, 9 and 19 from our SNAP PrepTest 1. Also, the question on filling missing mathematical signs had appeared in our SNAP PrepTest 2 (Q.17).
  • The Data Sufficiency questions were the regular two-statement type, and one question out of the four was incorrect (The correct answer being ‘Either of the statements is sufficient’, but there was no such answer option). All of these were worth attempting.
  • The 22 Data Interpretation Q’s were spread across 4 sets (2 Tables, 1 Pie Chart and 1 Special DI). The table on Registered Blood Donors and the Special DI set on Trucks and Cars were sitters and should definitely have been attempted. 13 Q’s out of 22 was a good attempt in DI.
  • Overall, in this section you could have attempted 30-33 Q’s in 40 min.

Verbal Ability
  • There were 3 RC passages of average length accounting for a total of 12 Q’s. All 3 passages could have been easily attempted with a high accuracy. There was one more special small passage, which was vocabulary-based and had 2 Q’s following it, asking the meanings of words in the passage.
  • The questions on Grammar were based on identifying the parts of speech (2 Q’s), inserting appropriate articles on the lines of what we had in our SNAP PrepTests (2 Q’s), error spotting (3 Q’s),
  • Vocabulary questions had 13 Q’s on Synonyms, 1 Q on Antonym, 2 Q’s on Identifying the correct spelling and 3 Q’s on Sentence Completion.
  • A good attempt in this section was 30 Q’s in 35 min.

Logical Reasoning
  • The Logic questions were easy considering the fact that they had a weight age of 2 marks each. Some of these were directly from the Peak Seekers study material and tests!

  • There were 7 Q’s based on completing the missing numbers in grids. 3 of these were on the lines of Q’s 137, 138 and 140 from our SNAP PrepTest 3.
  • 1 set of Logical Data Interpretation with 3 Q’s was on staging six plays on six days of a week (again on the lines of the set in our LDI exercise). There was another set of Q’s based on Fibonacci series.
  • Questions on puzzles included Number Series (3 Q’s), Alphabet Series (3 Q’s) and Coding-Decoding (1 Q). The question on Coding-Decoding was incorrect as there was a mismatch in the codes!
  • Apart from these, there were 5 Q’s on Syllogism based on Logical Consistency (3 of these were picked up verbatim from the Peak Seekers Analytical Reasoning book i.e. Q’s 3, 4 and 5 on Page 19 and 20) and 2 Q’s on Para jumbles.
  • The 2 Q’s on Visual Reasoning were much easier than the ones we see in the CET.
  • Surprisingly, there were quant Q’s in this section as well (which again was the case with our SNAP PrepTests)! These were on topics such as Number systems and Clocks (Total: 2 Q’s).
  • Overall you could have attempted around 25 Q’s in about 35 min. in this section.
