Section-Wise Analysis of NMAT 2005
Language Skills
- This section had questions on reading comprehension, usage and
vocabulary
- There were 3 RC passages (13 Qs). The usage based questions were in
the form of jumbled sentences (5 Qs), underlined phrase replacement (5 Qs)
and error spotting (5 Qs), while vocabulary based questions were in the
form of synonyms / antonyms (5 Qs), analogies (2 Qs) and paragraph
construction (5 Qs)
- Possible to attempt around 30 questions in about 30 min.
Mathematical Skills
- This section was skewed towards arithmetic with as many as 30 Qs being
asked on topics like Percentage-PLD-SI/CI, Ratio proportion, Mixtures,
Speed-Work and Number systems
- The remaining questions were largely on Geometry and Mensuration (7
Qs)
- Possible to attempt around 25 questions in 35 minutes

Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency
- There were two sets based on pure graph, two sets based on combination
of graph and table, while one set each was based on table and caselet
- In all there were 30 DI questions
- The remaining 10 questions were the data sufficiency questions. 5 of
these were the regular 2 statement DS, 3 were 3 statement DS, while 2 were
data redundancy
- Possible to attempt around 25 questions in 35 minutes
Intelligence and Logical Reasoning
- This section included 5 sets of logical data interpretation (14 Qs),
questions on puzzles (12 Qs), critical reasoning (6 Qs), graph based
questions (5 Qs) and courses of action (3 Qs)
- Overall this section had average difficulty level, and students
required to choose the questions carefully
- Possible to attempt around 30 questions in 30 minutes
Indian and Global Environment
- This was comparatively a very easy section as the answer choices helped you
to arrive at the right answers very easily
- Largely the questions were based on current GK and business GK
- Possible to attempt around 25 questions in 20 minutes
