IRMA 2006
(26th November 2006)
Like previous IRMA tests, this one was an easy test too. If you were prepared
for CAT 2006, it was quite the cake walk.. Overall the paper was on the lines of
Maharashtra CET. The only section that had students stumped was 'Social
Awareness'.
- 200 Q's, 2 hours.
- 200 marks (each question carried 1 mark), 1/4th negative
- 5 Answer options
- 4 sections No sectional time limit

Section-Wise Analysis of IRMA 2006
Verbal Ability
- There was only 1 Reading Comprehension passage followed by 15 Q's.
There were 5 Q's on Parajumbles, but all 5 based on unscrambling the same
paragraph. Another 5 Q's were on Error Spotting while 10 Q's were based on
filling the missing sentence from a paragraph.
- Overall an easy section and an attempt of 35 with a score of 30 would
not be difficult.
Reasoning Ability
- There were two sets on Analytical Reasoning, each followed by 5 Q's.
The remaining part of the section consisted of Syllogisms, with questions
on Assumptions, Conclusions, Arguments, Probably True Probably False
(Paragraph Type).
- The presence of a large number of Syllogisms questions raises the
difficulty level of this section to average as Syllogisms tend to have a
low accuracy rate. An attempt of around 40 Q's with a score of 25 could
have been easily managed.
|
Quantitative Ability
- This section had an eclectic blend of Math questions (15 Q's),
Mathematical Puzzles (10 Q's) and Data Interpretation / Data Sufficiency
(25 Q's).
- The Math questions were largely from Arithmetic topics like
Ratio-proportion and Percentage. Several of the answers worked out to the
'None of These' answer choice.
- Mathematical Puzzles included 5 Q's on Number Series (these were quite
tricky!) and 5 Q's on Quantitative Comparison (these were quite easy).
- Data Interpretation consisted of one set on tables, one caselet, one
line graph and one combination graph (Line graph and Table). While,
another 5 Q's were on Data Sufficiency.
- One could have easily attempted 30-35 Q's in this section with a net
score of around 28-30.
Social Awareness
- This was the toughest section of them all with most of the questions
(around 25-30 Q's) pertaining to food and agriculture.
- A low attempt with high accuracy was possibly the best strategy for
this section.
