Section-Wise Analysis of IRMA 2005
English Comprehension
- This section was largely made up of two RC passages with 10 and 15
questions each. Both these passages were concerning social and economic
issues
- The remaining questions were jumbled sentence (5 Qs) and paragraph
construction (10 Qs)
- Overall this section was very easy and one could have easily attempted
about 30 questions in 30 minutes
Quantitative Ability
- This section was divided into 20 Qs on pure quant, 5 Qs on data
sufficiency and 25 Qs on data interpretation
- The pure quant questions were based on number series (5 Qs),
arithmetic (5 Qs) and those pertaining to simplifying expressions (10 Qs)
- In data interpretation you had 2 combination sets (table and graph), 2
sets of graphs and 1 set of table. Each set was followed by 5 questions
- Overall the section was of average difficulty level with some very
easy and some very difficult sets
- You could have picked up the right sets, and attempted around 30
questions in 40 minutes

Analytical and Verbal Reasoning
- This section had 25 questions on verbal reasoning, and the remaining
25 questions on analytical reasoning
- In verbal reasoning there were 5 sets each followed by 5 questions.
These sets were on strong/weak arguments, courses of action, probably true
probably false, cause and effect and logical consistency
- The analytical reasoning questions were based on eligibility criteria
(10 Qs), simple puzzles (6 Qs), analogies (4 Qs) and logical data
interpretation (5 Qs)
- One could have easily attempted around 35 questions in 30 minutes in
this section
Issues of Social Concern
- This section had general knowledge questions on socio-political and
economic issues
- This was the most difficult section with questions pertaining to
agriculture and irrigation, public finance and rural credit, poverty and
employment, public distribution system and global issues on health
- One should have spent only 20 minutes on this section, in which he
could have attempted about 15 questions
