Section-Wise Analysis of IIFT 2005
Quantitative Ability
- Included higher level questions like differentiation, integration,
complex numbers, determinants
- Large number of questions (more than 15) on arithmetic topics like
numbers, averages, mixtures, speed time distance, work, pipes
- Possible to attempt around 20 questions in about 30 min.
Logical Reasoning, DI, DS
- 3 sets of DI with 5, 6 and 7 Qs respectively and were slightly
difficult
- 10 DS questions were very easy and should definitely have been
attempted
- The remaining 12 questions on logic were based on coding decoding,
series and critical reasoning
- Possible to attempt around 25 questions in 35 minutes
Reading Comprehension
- There were 5 passages in all
- One passage was very short followed by 2 questions; two of average
lengths while two were very long passages. The average length and the
lengthy passages were followed by 4 to 5 questions each
- Most of the questions were inferential in nature
- Possible to attempt around 10-12 questions in 20 minutes

Verbal Ability
- Largely based on vocabulary, with around 30 questions requiring you to
have good knowledge of the words
- Vocabulary questions were asked in the form of synonyms, antonyms,
word origin, spellings, sentence completion, paragraph construction
- The remaining questions were usage based in the form of parts of
speech, prepositions, sentence correction
- Possible to attempt around 30 questions in 20 minutes
General Awareness
- Largely questions were asked on static GK and current GK
- Static GK questions were largely on geography
- Possible to attempt around 20 questions in 15 minutes
